Blue Origin was founded by Jeff Bezos in 2000 with a long-term goal of millions of people living and working in space. Its New Shepard rocket has flown paying passengers on short suborbital flights since 2021.
Its New Glenn heavy rocket made its first flight in January 2025 and launched NASA’s ESCAPADE twin Mars orbiters. Blue Origin is also building the Blue Moon landers: an uncrewed cargo version, whose first landing is NASA’s Moon Base I, and a crewed version under contract to carry Artemis astronauts to the lunar surface.
